A Los Angeles County Office of Public Safety Officer, Robinson was killed in the line of duty when he was stabbed to death while performing his police duties at an L.A. County Welfare office at 813 E 4th Place, Los Angeles.

Robinson had been a Public Safety officer for 33 years when he was making his regular rounds on the eve of his 55th birthday. Nicknamed "Kojak" because of his bald head, his tough exterior masked a "gentle giant" who was raising six children and caring for an ailing wife.

Robinson was stabbed to death in a restroom of his regular assignment. One of the suspects was seriously injured when the wounded officer fired his service weapon in self defense. The other suspect was arrested shortly after.

Robinson, who wore Badge # 77041, lived at 1024 N Orange Blossom Ave, La Puente at the time of his death.
