Mrs. Meta Marie Scheffler, 91, formerly of 1421 S. 13th St., Manitowoc, died
Wednesday, February 4, at Park Lawn Nursing Home, where she had resided the
past year.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church,
Newton. The Rev. Robert D. Stuebbe will officiate and burial will be in the
church cemetery.
Mrs. Scheffler, nee Meta Grosshuesch, was born July 22, 1889, in the Town of
Newton, daughter of the late William and Margaret Neuhaus Grosshuesch. She was
educated in Newton Church School and was married to Robert W. Scheffler April 4,
1908. They resided in Newton and Manitowoc. Mr. Scheffler preceded her in death
Nov. 11, 1954. Mrs. Scheffler was a member of Ladies Aid Society of Salem
Ebenezer Reformed Church and was the oldest member of the church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Marge Scheffler of
Marietta, Ga., a daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Wally Hoyer of Manitowoc; a
daughter-in-law, Elmira Scheffler of Newton; five grandchildren, Ronald Scheffler
of Newton, Rogene Behm of Manitowoc and Tom, Eric and Bobette Scheffler of
Marietta, Ga., and 13 great grandchildren. A son, Clarence, a grandson, Roger, a
great grandson Dean, five brothers and seven sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.. to 9 p.m. Friday and at
the church from noon Saturday until the time of service. Memorials may be made
to Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church.
