Harvey C. Gray, age 78, of 10874W County Road 442, Cooks, Michigan, passed away Wednesday morning, November 13, 2013, at the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique, Michigan.

He was born July 15, 1935, in Cooks, the son of Edward and Bertha (Van Derven) Gray and attended school in Cooks.

Harvey proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On November 10, 1956, Harvey married the former Peggy Lou Molter in West Bend, Wisconsin. He and Peggy raised their daughters in West Bend, before moving to Cooks in 1984, where they owned and operated the Thunder Lake Store for 13 years, prior to retiring. Peggy preceded Harvey in death on September 17, 2011.

Harvey was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was an avid hunter and champion horse shoe player. Harvey thoroughly enjoyed his children, but his greatest love was being a grandpa.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandy (Steve Denkins) Babington of Cooks and Debbie (David Kane) Gray of Manistique; grandchildren, Sarah (Travis) Murk, JoAnne (Kyle) Tembreull, Brian Thompson, Christopher Babington and Kyle Babington; and seven great-grandchildren. Harvey is further survived by his sisters, Janice Molter of West Bend, WI and Karen DeMers of Bark River, MI; and brothers, Gerald Gray of King, WI and Norbert Gray of Oshkosh, WI.

In addition to wife and parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Gray.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2013, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m., with Father Glenn Theoret officiating.

Burial will be held at the Inwood Township Cemetery in Cooks.
