GREENSBORO- Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Thomas Taylor, 76, of Greensboro, entered into eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005, at White Oak Manor in Burlington.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with the Rev. James Allred to officiate. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Mrs. Taylor was born to the late Alexander Holt Thomas and Velna Williams Thomas on June 8, 1929, in Greensboro and moved as an infant to Staley. She was a 1947 graduate of Stanley High School. She resided in Burlington for over 10 years and moved to Greensboro in 1960. She retired from Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance Company in 1992, after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
Doris was a faithful member of Sedgefield Baptist Church. She had many interests in her life, most importantly was her Lord, her family and numerous friends. She loved people and lived her life with kindness and compassion to everyone. Prior to her illness, Doris loved to fish, was an avid traveler, gardener and oil painting was her true passion, for which she had a true talent.
Doris is survived by her husband, Aubrey Cooper Taylor of NC State Veterans Nursing Home in Fayetteville; daughter Jano Shoe Jenkins and husband Sid of McLeansville. She also leaves behind her extended family, Barry and Laura Jenkins and their children, Cydney and Stone of Greensboro; Maria and Chris Barker and their children, Dillon and Isabella of Roswell, Ga.; Lori and Mike Moore and their daughter, Makayla of Trinity; grand dog Bonnie Jenkins; and her two kitties, Abbey and Alley Taylor of the home.
Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road.
In lieu of flowers, the Taylor family requests any gifts be given to Sedgefield Baptist Church, 6007 High Point Road, Greensboro, NC 27407, National Parkinson's Foundation, 800 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107 or to a charity of your choice.
