Thomas was the son of Noah L. and Eunice (Becknell) Houser. He married Mildred Marie Holmes and they were the parents of four children: Tommie Louis, Richard Harold, Cathy Marie and Jeffery Robert.

WHITEVILLE -- Thomas Edison Houser, 72, of Lee Street, formerly of Fairmont, died Monday in Columbus County Hospital.

He was a retired insurance agent and worked for the board of elections in Fairmont Precinct 2 for many years.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton by the Revs. David Penick and Don Meyers. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton. Floyd Mortuary of Lumberton.

Mr. Houser is survived by his wife, Mildred H. Houser of the home; three sons, Tommie Houser of Whiteville, Richard Houser of Wilmington and Jeffery Houser of Greensboro; a daughter, Cathy Hilburn of Hallsboro; three brothers, Henry Houser of Montgomery, Ala., Ben Houser of Cherryville, and Bob Houser of Athens, Ga.; four sisters, Elizabeth Kirchner of Florida, Ruth Austin of Charlotte, Clara Warwick of Jacksonville, Fla., and Evelyn Wallace of Gastonia; and nine grandchildren.
