Rode under William Quantrill during the civil war. Killed by J. H. Bridgewaters Militia in a skirmish at the home of Widow Vanarsdall, four miles west of Harrodsburg KY along with Chatham Renick, Foster Key, Henry Noland, William Noland, and John Barker. They all were originally buried in the Oakland Church cemetery in Harrodsburg within sight of where they died. Body moved in 1905 to Spring Hill cemetery.
