Norita A. Barrett
Norita Barrett, age 75 years of Fredonia, died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at her residence in the Town of Fredonia.

She was born July 5, 1938 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Raymond and Lila MacDougal Priegnitz. Norita graduated from St. Norbert College in 1960 and went on to get her Masters degree from University of Wisconsin. She married Michael Barrett in Milwaukee.

Norita taught school in Cedarburg before moving to North Carolina with her family. She taught in the public school system while living there, as well as playing organ for her church. When they moved back to Wisconsin, Norita taught at Mesmer High School.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1984. At different points in her career, Mrs. Barrett taught music at various local schools- most recently at Divine Savior (St. Rose) School in Fredonia from 2002 until her retirement in 2008. She had also taught at St. Mary Lake Church, Eden, Ripon and Northern Ozaukee and often directed the Christmas programs for the schools she worked at.

Mrs. Barrett played organ for masses at Holy Rosary Parish (currently Divine Savior) in Fredonia, St. Paul's Community UCC in Waubeka and had been the full time organist at St. John's UCC in Random Lake for the last six years. Norita also had taught piano lessons to many students over the years and had still had active students. She was a member of Divine Savior Parish, St. John's UCC Book Club and the Saturday Lunch Group in West Bend. She enjoyed walking. Survivors include her son Daren Barrett of Greenleaf, WI, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 14, 5 PM at Divine Savior, St. Rose Chapel in Fredonia with Father Todd Budde presiding. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo. Visitation at the CHURCH Thursday from 4-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Divine Savior choir appreciated. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
