Bud was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Portage, the son of Fred and Catherine Hudson Robinson. He served his country in the Navy from 1943 to 1945. All of his service was on the USS Saratoga. Bud married Betty Jean Clemmons on May 1, 1948. He attended Elgin Watchmakers College in Elgin, Ill. Bud was in business with his mother at Quinn's Jewelers from 1945 until her death in 1975 when he became sole owner, retiring in 2008. Bud was a Portage alderman from 1964 to 1974. He belonged to the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Portage; two daughters, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a nephew, a niece, a cousin, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Kathleen Derey; husband, Cecil; one niece, Jean Anglim; and special aunt and uncle, Raymond and Agnes Hudson of Elmwood Park, Ill.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage with Father. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Portage-area veterans. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
