Jackie O. Sawdy, 82, of Columbus, died at 1:35 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Sawdy was employed for 37 years as a conductor for CSX Railroad. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Garden City Church of Christ, American Legion, Kentucky Club and Scottish Society of Columbus and Louisville.
The funeral will be at 1 pm. Monday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with David Burnett officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.

Mr. Sawdy was born Nov. 3, 1928 in Royalton, Minn., the son of Roy and Elfrieda Pankratz Sawdy. He married Delores Mitchell Aug. 5, 1950 in Elizabethtown, Ky.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jack O. (Pat) Sawdy of Merritt Island, Fla.; daughters, Brenda (Robert) Wiedo of Lawrenceburg, Ky. and Kathy (David) Burnett of Columbus; a brother, Carol Sawdy of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Laura Moody, Jason Sawdy, Robert Wiedo, Jack R. Wiedo, Ross Wiedo and Joshua and Samuel Burnett, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Sawdy.
