Richard "Rico" DeLeon, 17, of Victoria, passed away on November 28, 2013.
He was born on September 24, 1996 in Victoria to Jose Mario DeLeon II and Sandra DeLeon Ramirez.
He attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and was a student at Victoria East High School.
He is survived by his mother; step-father, Joe Ramirez of Victoria; sisters, Janie Marie Clay of Bloomington, Ruby DeLeon of Houston; half-sisters, Fransica DeLeon of Victoria, Christina DeLeon of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Lauro Martinez and Horacio Martinez, both of Spartanburg, S.C.; half-brothers, Alex DeLeon of Victoria, Jose Mario DeLeon III of Victoria, Jose DeLeon of Charlotte, N.C., David DeLeon of Charlotte N.C.; and step-brother, Eric Ramirez of Bay City.
He is preceded in death by his father; Eufemia Rodriguez; and baby nephew Jimmy Ray Rivera.
Visitation will begin at 3 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, followed by a Rosary at 7 PM at Artero Memorial Chapels. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at 9 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

BLOOMINGTON, Texas (AP) — A South Texas woman has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of her 17-year-old brother as the pair apparently struggled over a handgun.
The Victoria Advocate reports 22-year-old Janiemarie Perez Clay was being held on $75,000 bond. The Victoria County Sheriff's Office on Friday did not immediate update her custody status or provide information on an attorney.
Investigators say Richard Rico Deleon was fatally shot early Thanksgiving Day at a home in Bloomington, 10 miles southeast of Victoria. The teen was dead at the scene. Autopsy results are pending.
Sandra Deleon Ramirez says her two children apparently were playing with the gun and she told her son to put the weapon away. The mother believes her daughter was trying to take the gun when it accidentally fired.
