Arzellene passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the age of 88. She was born in Selma, Ca. on March 24, 1925, to Mary and Manuel Rosa. Arzellene attended Selma High School and Fresno State University. She retired after working 25 years for the Fresno Unified School District in the Curriculum Staff Development and the Driver Education Training Departments which were her day positions. She also had a night position at Weinstocks Department Store in the Credit Department. Besides the two positions she was also a care giver for her father and mother for seven years. She was very conscientious and dedicated in her work as well as kind and loving, always pleasing the needs of others before her own. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was active in many of the elementary, junior and senior high school activities and served as chairman on many committees. In 1964, Arzellene was a recipient of the Honorary Life Service Awards Certificate from the California Congress of Parents and Teachers Association in special recognition of outstanding service to children and youth. In January of 1985, she was honored as the Classified Employee of the month for her outstanding work with the Fresno Unified School District. Arzellene was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Sharon Ann Teixeira; her parents, Mary and Manuel; her brother and his wife, Merwin and Joan Rose; brothers-in-law, James Hofert and Richard Wilkinson. She is survived by her son, Richard and his wife Serna of Placerville, Ca.; her two grandsons, Vincent Joseph and Justin Alexander Teixeira; her sisters, Arlene Wilkinson of Placerville, Ca. and Elaine Hofert of Fresno; nieces, Patricia Buchner and her husband Leonard and their children, Keith and Erin of San Jose, Ca., Denice Barr and her husband Dr. Steven Barr, and son Brian of Ventura, Ca.; nephews, Richard P. Rose and his wife Mary of Santa Fe, NM, Dennis Rose and his wife Janelle, their children, Michael and Bobby of Sunnyvale, Ca., David Rose and his daughter, Felicity of Sacramento, Ca. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Friday, December 6, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Saint Peter's Cemetery.
