Born March 23, 1851, at Martville, Cyuga County, New York, son of Mr & Mrs Benjamin Crofoot. At age 29 he went to Minnesota. He homesteaded in 1878 and married Sophie Johnson. They had 9 children: Benjamin, Stella, Bernie, Pearl, Annie, Brainerd, DeWitt, Caroline and Victoria.
He was a mail carrier. He lived on the south shore of Lake Hendricks for many years, moved to the village of Hendricks, and eventually went to Minneapolis.
