Major League Baseball Player. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, the 6'3, and 185lbs, Widmar made his major league debut on April 25, 1947, and played his final game on April 17, 1952. Originally signed by the Boston Red Sox as an amateur free agent in 1942, he played for the Boston Red Sox in 1947, St. Louis Browns in 1948, 1950 to 1951, and the Chicago White Sox in 1952. In his later years he was a pitching coach for the Toronto Blue Jays. He died in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 80, after a battle with colon cancer.
