In 1847, he came to Brooklyn with his wife. He owned a restaurant at 47 Fulton Street, near the Ferry. Some of his patrons were well known, such as the; Lotts, Murphys, Vanderbilts, Greenwoods, Whitneys and other well known men at that time.
He established the first restaurant in the neighborhood of City Hall, at then the Halsey Building. He also had owned a restaurant opposite the old Navy Yard gate on York Street.
