A FORMER EMPORIAN Dies. Guy B. Selleck, of Independence, a former Emporian, died this morning about 9 o'clock at his home in Independence. Mr. and Mrs. Selleck visited here last Sunday. Mr. Selleck was a brother of Mrs. D. E. Mayes, of Emporia. Funeral arrangements have not been made. Mrs. Mayes planned to leave this morning for Independence. Mr. Selleck was born in Lind, Wis.. December 19, 1872. He came to Emporia with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Selleck, in 1882. Guy Selleck attended the Emporia City schools and worked in the grocery business here. He later owned a grocery north of the courthouse, where the Hub hotel, 410 Commercial, now is located. Mr. Selleck married Cora Gain In 1898 at Emporia. Mr. and Mrs. Selleck moved about 20 years ago to Independence, where Mr. Selleck had been in the insurance business. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Seller, Haviland, and Miss Helen Selleck, of the home; two sons, George Selleck. Cambridge, Mass., and Harold Selleck, Frlendswood, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Riley Fullerton, Calif., and Mrs. Mayes, of Emporia, and four grandchildren.
