George was the son of George MacAulay Sr and Anne Spankie.
George MacAulay married the Argentinian born, Harriet Fair on Dec 3rd 1857 in Edinburgh, Scotland. They had a number of children: Thomas Fair MacAulay; Harriet Fair (Garland) (1858-1923); MaryAnn Fair (Hickling) (1860-1893) and Margaret Helen (1864)(married Rev Alexander W. Kinmont)
As per Mr. Ian MacAulay and 'Beverly':

Obituary in the paper has him born at Bonar Bridge, Sutherland (presumably in the Parish of Creich). Not in Fife. Sutherland is now Highland region.
