Gary Dean Gillham, 68, Henderson, died at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2013, at St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.

He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He was a 1963 graduate of Henderson County High School and played football under Mojo Hollowell who nicknamed him Pony. He was a member of the 1959 and 1961 Henderson County High School football teams both of which were inducted into the Henderson County Sports Hall of Fame. Gary was a 1967 graduate of the University of Kentucky. He became a Registered Nurse at the age of 55 and worked at Methodist Hospital for 13 years in the Emergency Room and 3 years in security. He loved being a nurse and his years in the ER were some of his most fulfilling. Gary was also a Kentucky Colonel and an avid reader, hunter, golfer, high school soccer referee, and University of Kentucky and Denver Broncos fan. Above all, Gary loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lockie Chapman and Eileen Shurtz Gillham.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Rhonda Gillham; one daughter, Elise May of Henderson; three sons, Brian Gillham and his wife, Susan, and Nicholas Gillham and his wife, Jennifer, both of Henderson, and Jesse Gillham of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Barbara Garrard and her husband, Shirley, of Sebree, and Linda Floyd and her husband, Kenny, of Poole; one brother, Robert Allen Gillham of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Jorden Stallings, Tyler May, Emma Gillham, Adam Gillham, Owen Gillham, Chandler Kate Gillham, and Truitt Gillham; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at noon Thursday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Larry McBride will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until 11 a.m. Thursday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
