James W. Rieger, 63, of 1559 Main St., Hellertown, died Sunday in St. Luke's Hospital after being stricken athome. He was the husband of Mary L. (Callahan) Rieger. They observed their 41st wedding anniversary last November.
A teacher in the Bethlehem Area School District for the past 22 years, Rieger was an industrial art teacher at Liberty High School at the time of his death. Before that, he was a machinist in the No. 6 machine shop at Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 23 years.
Born in Lower Saucon Township, he was a son of the late Fred and Florence (Daubert) Rieger.
He was an organizer of the Hellertown Little League and the Hellertown Midget Sports Association.
Rieger was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, Hellertown.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving with his widow are two sons, Terry of Hellertown and Thomas F. of Fountain Hill; two daughters, Karyn L. of Hellertown and Cynthia L., wife of Michael L. Cawley of Bethlehem, and a brother Theodore of Bethlehem R.4.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, 326 Main St., Hellertown. A calling hour will precede the services.
