William Gaines Sweet, 63, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 1922, at 6:30 p.m., at his late residence, 1822 Kilbourne place NW, after a protracted illness. William was born in 1859 to the late Philip Potter Sweet and Harriett Chittenden Sweet from Bradford County, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Belle (Hurlbut); sons, Merle L. (Marguerite), Dr. William M., George H (Martha May); and daughter, Harriet M. Masonic ceremonies by Acacia Lodge, No. 18, F.A.A.M. were held on 20 June 1922. William was interred at Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington, D.C.
