Zelphia Opal Whittle, 94, of Columbus, passed from this life at 3:40 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Mrs. Whittle retired from Arvin Industries in 1981 after 32 years of service.

She attended and supported the Seventh Street Church of God and enjoyed reading the Bible and sewing.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Jerry Ballard officiating.

Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Russell County, Kentucky October 31, 1918, Mrs. Whittle was the daughter of Cyrus and Leva Coffey Wilson. She married Millard Whittle August 11, 1935. He preceded her in death April 7, 1981.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Willadean Whittle of Columbus; a sister, Willie Casey of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Whittle was preceded in death by her father, Cyrus Wilson; her mother, Leva Aaron; her son, Jarvis Whittle; four sisters and a brother.
