Zula Gadd Patterson, 80, of Glenwood Park Road, Princeton, W.Va., died on Dec. 16, 2013 at Cassell's Board and Care Facility in Princeton.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1933, at Talcott, W.Va., a daughter of Noah Levi Gadd Sr. and wife Beatrice Gore Gadd.

Zula was educated in Summers County, W.Va., received her nursing certificate and worked for Bluefield Regional Medical Center and Princeton Community Hospital.

Zula had dedicated her life to working with people in need; she was a full time care giver. She had attended the Harbour Light Church. She had lived in northern West Virginia for several years, moving to Hinton in the early 60s, later moving to the Princeton area.

She was an avid reader, reading and listening to Charles Stanley and the Bible.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra White, and 10 siblings: Dorothy, Nadine, Daisy, Noah "Buddy" Jr., George, Robert, Russell, Freddie, Frank and Alvie.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Thomas "Tom" Patterson; five children, David Lee Rowe of Nashville, Tenn., Deborah Ann Young of Littleton, N.C., Lisa Patterson of Princeton, Exie Diane Baker of Waxahachie, Texas, and Charles Patterson Jr. of Princeton; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; siblings, Vada Igo of Charleston, W.Va., Anna Warner of Fairfax, Va., Rhodolphus "Doc" Gadd of Athens, W.Va., and Lotus Gadd of Frederick, Md.

Funeral services were held on 19 Dec 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Richard Carbaugh officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
