Final services for John K.
Sheridan, 42, accountant and tax
expert of 85 E. Market, killed in
a car crash near Star City at
2:45 a.m. Sunday, will be held
this morning at nine o'clock at
St. Vincent's church. The Reverend
Father John P. Schall will
officiate and burial will be in
Calvary cemetery.
Paul Kraut, 49, of 500 W.
Linden avenue, injured in the
same accident, is reported fair at
Memorial hospital. He is suffering
from shock and a badly lacerated
left hand.
The men were returning from a
duplicate bridge tournament in
Chicago. Kraut, driving, said he
lost control of the car, when he
opened a window to toss away a
cigarette. Wheels of the auto
caught on the edge of the pavement
and rolled the car over
three or four times. Sheridan was
thrown out on the pavement
about 31) feet away. Kraut
crawled out of the car which had
landed on its top on the pavement.
The 1950 auto was demolished.
Sheridan, partially conscious
to Memorial hospital,
died at 4:30 a.m. of multiple internal
injuries.
Mr. and Mrs. John Shafer of
star city, first To arrive at the scene
summonsed state trooper
Delvie Masterson, Sheriff Hubert
Bollhauve and the Fry and Lange
ambulance. Bill Studebaker, Fred
Hanna and Tom Hirschauer, of
here, en route home from a fishing
trip, also came upon the
wreck, and gave aid.
Born December 17, 1907
Indianapolis, Sheridan
He was graduated from Cathedral
high school. and married April 18, 1932 in
Anderson to Alice B. Davis. The
couple moved here from New Castle
in 1944. For a year before opening his own
office here.
Sheridan was comptroller for the
Logansport Machine Company.
He was a member of St. Vin-
cent's church, the Elks lodge.
the Knights of Columbus, and
president of the Northern Indiana
Bridge Association. In 1949 he
was president of the Logansport
Country Club.
Survivors are the wife: one son,
John K. II. at home; his mother,
Mrs. Margaret Sheridan: two
brothers and two sisters: Thomas
j. and Phillip P. Sheridan: Mrs.
Urban Albright, Mrs. Henry
Heidman, all of Indianapolis.
Rites were held at the funeral
home Tuesday night by the Elks,
the Knights of Columbus and the
Holy Name society of St. Vin-
cent's church.
