Hager Helton, age 79 of Fairborn, passed away Wednesday December 18, 2013 in the Hospice of Dayton. He was born June 5, 1934 in Magoffin Co., KY, the son of the late Jessie and Alice (Ward) Helton. Hager served his country in the United States Navy; and followed with employment with L.B. Robinson as a construction engineer, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a member of Faith Hill Church of God; an avid golfer, enjoyed playing guitar, and loved his family and church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Gene Helton; brothers, Clayton, Frank, and James; and a sister, Shirley Gran. He is survived by his wife of 65 years; two daughters; six grandchildren; two sisters; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday December 22, 2013 from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Monday December 23, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., Pastors Thomas Beverly and Tooney Easterling officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society –or- Hospice of Dayton.
