Justin Lee Nathanial Durrett, 30, of Farmington, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, in Farmington. He was born March 1, 1983, in Durango, Colo., to Wendell Neal and Kerry Lee Durrett.
Justin attended Coastal Mountain Bible College and received a certificate. He also attended San Juan College and received a carpentry certificate, an associate of applied science degree: industrial process operator and advanced water treatment. He achieved the President's Honor Roll lists at both colleges. He was employed with Precision Fitting and Gauge for six years.
He attended the First Baptist Church in Farmington. He loved to read and had an extensive library. Justin loved his three cats, Purrscilla, Skitty and Josephus. He loved to go places and work on his home renovation. He also loved the outdoors and photography. Above all else, Justin loved to help people and always gave to others generously and sacrificially. This month he gave his only heavy coat to a man on the street who was cold and had no coat.
Justin loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children and was friendly, kind and loving to all people. He was truly "God's Gift," as his second middle name Nathanial means.
He was a precious son, brother and uncle who was taken from us much too soon. We loved him so much.
Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde and Lennie Durrett.
He is survived by his parents; brother, Dylan Ryan Neal Durrett; sisters, Nikki Kae (Brian) Kresse, Tiffany Ann (Ryan) Beebe; nieces, Lauren and Lynzie; nephews, Joshua, Carson, Payson, and Hayden; grandparents, Bob and Betty Reddy; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, at Bethel Baptist Church, 201 Heiland Road in Aztec, with Pastor Bob Schlauger officiating.
Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Tim Merilatt, Steve Miller, George Platero, Bruce Petty, Christian McDonald and Randy Mason.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in care of Bethel Baptist Church, 201 Heiland Road in Aztec.
Justin's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, 405 S. Main Ave., 505-334-9332. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at www.serenityandcompany.com.
