A lovely 18-year-old girl who was prominent in Washington society, Dorothy died after accidentally taking mercury chloride tablets, which she mistook for headache tablets.

From the Washington Herald, January 3, 1914:

Funeral services for Miss Dorothy Landon, who died from the effects of an operation performed at Garfield Hospital on Wednesday for bichloride of mercury poisoning, were held at her residence, 1336 Park road, this afternoon. The Rev. Alfred Harding, bishop of Washington, officiated. Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery.
