Funeral services for James Willis Sones, age 78, of Holum, will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 29, 2013 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Benny Braddock officiating. Interment will follow at Little Star Cemetery in Holum. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

James was born November 13, 1935 to Willis Jefferson and Bessie Mae Sones in Holum and he passed from this life on December 26, 2013 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia.

He was a retired watchmaker. He loved music and liked to travel. He also enjoying going to the casinos, dirt track racing, and boxing. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father: Rev. Wiliam Cooper; his best friend: Truman Boothe.

He is survived by his daughter: Gina Darlene Neal and her husband Randy of Jena; three sons: James Ronald Sones of Holum; Jeffery Ellis Sones and his wife Janice of Holum; Phillip Anthony Sones and his wife Melissa of Holum; two sisters: Willie Mae Nugent and her husband Delton of Holum; Elaine Hancock and her husband Gerald of Conroe, TX; nine grandchildren: Ashley Dean, Bridget Sones, Sabrina Hill, Brittany Hill, Joshua Dale Garringer, Casey James Garringer, Brandi Neal, Ashley Fraser, and Justin Fraser; nine great-grandchildren
