ROMNEY,WEST VIRGINIA -- Robert James ``Bob'' Wygal, 94, of Romney, formerly of Clarksburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital Romney. He had moved to Romney about a year ago to live with his son, Philip.

He was born on Aug. 19, 1904, in Lee Creek, near Parkersburg, a son of the late Robert James and Myrtle (Ludwig) Wigal. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Rosalie (Taylor) Wygal, on June 23, 1991; and one son, Jack.

Mr. Wygal retired after 42 years of service as Manager of the Clarksburg City Plant of Consolidated Gas Supply Corporation.

Mr. Wygal was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was very involved in community activities in Clarksburg. While living in Romney, he attended the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Wygal touched the hearts of many and he will be greatly missed.

Surviving are three sons, Robert James Wygal Jr., Mars, Pa., Philip Wygal, Augusta, David Wygal, Buckhannon; one daughter, Anne Keith, Richmond, Va.; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Romney First United Methodist Church on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Calvin McCutcheon officiating. The body will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. to lie in state one hour prior to the service.

He will then be taken to the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, Clarksburg, where the family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, with the Rev. Susan Rector officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Romney First United Methodist Church, 49 N. High St., Romney, WV 26757.
