Ray "Bud" E. Spainhower, 82, of Worthington, passed away at 11:48 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 in Sullivan County Community Hospital.
He was born May 5, 1931 in Bloomington to William Earl Spainhower and Edith Clara (Bender) Spainhower.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Inez (Wools) Spainhower of Worthington, whom he married on August 26, 1950; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Dan Holtsclaw of Worthington; sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Linda Spainhower of Bloomfield, Brian Spainhower of Worthington; grandchildren, Melinda & Robert Harber, Alyvea and Camron Beard; great-grandchildren, Shelley and Erik Brody, Kristina Copp, Asher Harber; sister-in-law, Linda Spainhower of Linton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alberta Dewitt; brothers, Mearl Spainhower and Harold Spainhower
(Work, Memberships) Ray worked as a welder for Peabody Coal and retired after 38 years of service. Ray was of the Christian faith, was a member of the UMWA and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 S. Meridian Street, Jasonville. There will be a Graveside Service at 3 p.m. Monday, October 14, with Visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Worthington Cemetery with Pastor Dan Holtsclaw and Howard Reel officiating.
Interment will be at Worthington Cemetery.
