Mrs. Smith, widow of James Edward Smith, died Sunday, December 29, 2013. Born in Darlington County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Vance and Sallie Phelps Shaw. She was the step-daughter of Maridy Henry Joseph Franklin Williams
In loving remembrance of Pearline Smith, but known to most as "MeMe," who passed away peacefully at one of her favorite places. Her life was devoted to serving her family and friends, and foremost, her savior. Anyone that knew her, knew of what a beautiful woman she was, not only on the outside, but most importantly on the inside. She cherished all her moments and memories with the ones she held dearly. Her greatest joy in life was her three girls, and her five grandchildren. She instilled in everyone she came across the importance family, and being close to his or her loved ones. She will be nothing short of missed by all, but she is now worshiping, rejoicing, and more than likely, playing the piano for her heavenly father.3
Surviving are her daughter, Judith S. (Jimmy) Byrd of Hartsville, SC, Jenise Smith of Darlington, SC, Janice Matthews of Hartsville, SC; brothers, Charles Williams of Hartsville, SC, J.T. Shaw of Hartsville, SC; sisters, Linda Kelley of Hartsville, SC, Lou Easter Beaver of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Blair S. Huggins, James Devin Matthews, Chandler Cleveland Byrd, Amber Lain Sherrill, and Evan Luther Byrd, all of Hartsville, SC.
