Cora was raised and educated in Missoula, graduating from Montana State Univeristy in Missoula with her degree in education and music. She studied voice and piano in New York after college.

She married Washington Jay McCormick 16 June 1937 in Hamilton (she was his second wife.)

She taught primary school in Corvallis, Grantsdale, and Hamiton, and retired in June 1964. She taught piano and voice privately as well.

She was a member of Alpha Phi, the National Retired Teachers Association, Montana Retired Teachers, and the Music Teachers Association.

She was survived by two stepdaughters, three nieces and a nephew, and her brother Otto. Otto was the last of the siblings to pass away; a brother and five sisters predeceased Cora.
