Lora V. Hawkins, daughter of Shayla Kelley of Shelley, passed away at home Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the age of 92. Lora Hawkins was born December 10, 1921 to Vernon W. Valantine and Ruby Potter Valantine. She grew up in Los Angeles, California and lived in Long Beach and Huntington Beach, California. She married Conrad H. Hawkins on March 30, 1942 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they had five children.

Lora was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings and made her faith the center of her life and the life of her family. She served a mission with her husband in Preston, England and served many years in the Los Angeles L.D.S. Temple.

After her husband past away, Lora moved in with her daughter Shayla and Jeff Kelley of Shelley. During these twilight years of her life, she blest their home with her happy demeanor and smile. Lora has always had a Christ-like behavior and lightened the life of any one who knew her. Her unselfish kindness and service to her children and grandchildren will never be forgotten.

Lora is survived by her five children, Curtis (Mary) Hawkins of Rexburg, Denis (Jackie) Hawkins of Bountiful, Utah, Connie (Dana) Kellis of Carlisle, PA, Brian (Mindy) Hawkins of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Shayla (Jeff) Kelley of Shelley, 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years and one daughter-in-law, Janet Hawkins, and one grandchild. She will be buried next to her husband in Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, in Whittier, California. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the North Huntington Beach LDS Stake Center, in Huntington Beach, California.
