Dorothy A. Rylander, 82, of Shell Lake, died on Monday, April 4, 2011, at Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake.

She was born on September 26, 1928, in St. Paul, Minn., to Lambert and Lillian (Rogers) Honnef.

Dorothy was married to Lester Johnson on June 14, 1948. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1964.

She was married in Shell Lake on February 26, 1977, to Bill Rylander.

She is survived by her husband, Bill, of Shell Lake; three sons, Harlan (Mary) Johnson of Shell Lake, Darryl (Wilma) Johnson of Barronett, and Kevin (Terri) Johnson of Shell Lake; four grandchildren, Peggy (Jon) Bergrab of Albany, Ga., Mark Johnson of Shell Lake, Brad (Lindsay) Johnson of Clintonville, and Beth Johnson of Spooner; two great-grandsons, Eric and Luke Bergrab, and one on the way; one stepson, Russell (Linda) Rylander, of New Glarus; three brothers, Donald (Edith) Honnef of Kewanee, John (JoAnn) Nelson of Harrisburg, Pa., and Edwin (Linda) Nelson of Cedar, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Bingham of Winterhaven, Fla., and Gladys Mortensen of Duluth; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friend, Leona Olson, of Spooner.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, at Shell Lake United Methodist Church. Rev. Gregory Harrell officiated.

Burial was in Shell Lake Cemetery. Pall bearers were Brad Johnson, Mark Johnson, Dean Johnson, Scott Nelson, Stephan Honnef, and Brian Nelson.

Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Skinner Funeral Home, Shell Lake, and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to service.
