John G. Konvicka Jr., 85, of Hallettsville, passed away Jan. 13, 2014. He was born on Sept. 4, 1928 to John G. & Carrie Olsovsky Konvicka Sr. in Hallettsville. He married Fay Braden on June 3, 1959 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Hochheim, TX. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, and life member of Knights of Columbus.
John join the US Navy and served during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
John is survived by: his wife Fay; 2 daughters, Dodie Langenberg & husband Harvey of Hallettsville, and Donna Fuller of Hallettsville; 6 grandchildren, Jason Fitch & wife Brenda, Jennie Taylor & husband Brain, Dusten Fitch, Alyssa Fitch, Kayla Fitch, and Ashley Fuller; 1 grandchild Miranda Fitch; and nieces & nephews.
John was preceded in death by: son John G. Konvicka III; daughter Sheri Dawn Konvicka; parents; and 2 sisters, Evelyn Stroud and Henrietta Callan.
Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm, Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Wednesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Wednesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Mark Brown, Eric Brown, Allen Brown, Michael Gerdes, Tim Callan, and Floyd Schwab. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, or donor's choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
