Deloss C. Dangler (1933 - 2008)
SHERWOOD - DeLoss C. Dangler Sr., 75, of Sherwood and formerly of Edgerton, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Facility, rural Defiance.Born Jan. 8, 1933, at Fort Wayne, Ind., to Nina Josephine (Blue) and DeLoss Jesse Dangler, he married Dolores Thiel on Dec. 27, 1952, at Edgerton, and this marriage ended in divorce. He then married Lucille K. (Yenser) Schmunk on July 26, 1988, at Sherwood, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2004.
A graduate of Edgerton High School, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a machinist by trade and had been employed at the Ohio Art Company and the Williams County Airport. He was a licensed commercial airplane pilot and had even built two airplanes.
He attended Bethel Forder Bridge United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his mother, Nina Josephine "Jo" Dangler of Edgerton; six daughters, Darlene (and husband, Rick) Kimpel of Hicksville, Dawn (Robert) Brown of Bryan, DeAnn (Odie) Mearse of Edon, Deborah Dangler of Edgerton, Denise (Robert) Knecht of Edgerton and Mickie (Greg) Butler of Sherwood; four sons, DeLoss (and wife, Sandy) Dangler Jr. of Edgerton, Douglas (Rebecca) Dangler of Edgerton, Charles (Beverly) Schmunk of Sherwood and James (Tammie) Schmunk of Wauseon; 28 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Nancy Lirot of Seattle, Wash., Patricia (Doug) Gruber of Fort Wayne, Ind., Diane Best of Blakeslee and Shirley (Gary) Lehmann of Bryan; and two brothers, Larry (Donna) Dangler of Bryan and Denny (Vada) Dangler of Angola, Ind.
His father and wife, Lucille, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday from 10-11a.m. in the Burr Funeral Home & Crematory, Sherwood.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with his son, Pastor Charles Schmunk, to officiate. Interment will follow in Sherwood Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Sherwood VFW Post 5665.
