Opal Suzanne Miller Guy, age 86 of 290 Duncan Street, Sparta, NC died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born on May 7, 1927 in Alexander County to the late Ralph and Bertha Vickus Miller. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Oakley Guy; three sons, Kenneth Eugene Guy, Larry Michael Guy and Albert Lee Guy; two brothers, Thomas H. Miller and Jimmy Miller; two sisters, Virginia "Pete" Rector and Delores Miller. She is survived by two sons, James Thomas Guy of Lexington and David Lynn Guy of the home; two daughters, Tracy Anne Reus and husband Jim of St. Cloud, FL and Cynthia Renee Guy of Camden, SC; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nan Bell and husband Jim of Taylorsville, Dink Lackey of Statesville and Carolyn Fox and husband Babe of Stony Point; two brothers, Ronnie Miller and wife Milledean of Taylorsville and Sid Miller of Thomasville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Grandview Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24th at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
