On December 27, 1940 as John Carlos Edwards, he married Barbara Jean Milton in Arlington County, Virginia.
John Curly C. Edwards was a 1939 graduate of West Point. During World War II, he was a P-47/P-51 fighter pilot in the European theater and during the Korean conflict, he was an F-86 pilot. Other assignments included Base Commander at Forbes Air Force Base in Kansas; Base Commander at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana; Deputy Wing Commander at Malmstrom Air Force Base and Director of Engineering ASD, WPAFB. After his military career, he had a 23-year civil service career as a civil engineer. He was a member of the Order of Daedalions. He died at age 91 on Tuesday, November 21, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Ella Edwards; his first wife, Barbara Edwards [1918-1968]; son, Jack Edwards [1949-1997] and his wife, Rose Edwards; two brothers and a sister. Survivors included his wife, Marian; two daughters and one son-in-law; three sons and three daughters-in-law; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Morris Sons Funeral Home at 104 West Main in Fairborn with Chaplain Ron Lee officiating. Interment was at the USMA Post Cemetery at West Point, New York.
