Henry H. Doornbos, 81, of both Manhattan, MT and Yuma, AZ, went to Heaven on January 19, 2014. He was born to Carrie (Dykema) and Heino Doornbos on December 13, 1932 in Bozeman, MT.

Henry graduated from Gallatin County High School in 1952. After graduation, he joined the army for two years and was stationed in a tank division in Germany during the Korean War. Upon returning, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a fireman for one year. After that, he worked for the phone company for 35+ years until retiring in 1992.

On April 5, 1958, Henry married the love of his life, Janice Martin. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Barbara and Martin, who in turn blessed them with five grandchildren.

Throughout his life, Henry was an active member of the volunteer fire department, the American Legion, and the Masons. Above all else, Henry had a real gift for helping people. They benefited from his handy man skills, big heart, and warm personality.

Henry is survived by his loving wife, Janice, two children, Barbara (Roberto) Irribarren and Martin (Toni) Doornbos. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Robert and Jonathan Irribarren and Sarah, Michelle, and Jeffrey Doornbos. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Genevieve (Wayne) Medendorp, Alvin (Donna) Doornbos, Carolyn (Bill) Gras, Elva (Jim) Schaper, and Jerry (Betty) Doornbos.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Don, Clarence and Marvin Doornbos.

A celebration of life is planned for Friday, January 24th at the Casa Manana Club House from 2-4 pm. Burial services will be held in Manhattan, MT on June 28, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of your choice.
