US Army Vietnam
Purple Heart
A life-long resident of Saginaw, Gary left his hometown only to serve in the army in Vietnam from January 1968 to December 1969 during which time he received the Purple Heart and many commendations and citations. For years his energy and ready wit as a representative of the Listening Room on State Street endeared him hosts of audiophiles and home theatre customers. Though a single man, he touched the lives of many as the son might have had, a boon companion or as a sage father figure as surely as if they were his kin. Notably, he saved several feral cats from mutilation, starvation, or lingering death by trapping them, seeing they got the best veterinary care and offering the safety of his home. Obeying his wishes he was cremated.
