According to the 1900 census record, Pearl's mother was Isabel A which indicates they are residing in Stampers Creek, Orange, Indiana. Isabel A is noted to be a widow, the mother of three children, all living. Thus far, I have not been able to confirm the identity of his parents.

A contributor suggested Pearl's given name was Hubert Pearl Ransom, the son of James E Ransom and Isabella Hancock Ransom. Thus far I have not located documentation to support the given name of Hubert Pearl Ransom - the records I have reviewed, the 1900 census, headstone photograph, military enlistment record, and military headstone application, are recorded under/display Pearl Ransom.

I find a James Edward Ransom married an Isabella A Lapping May 9, 1883 in Floyd county, Indiana. The census and military records support Pearl's year of birth was 1880/1881, 2-3 years prior to Isabella A Lapping's marriage to James Edward Ransom (he was previously married to Evaline). It seems likely that, if these are indeed his parents, Pearl was her son from a previous marriage, possibly adopted by James E. Ransom.

I find a Herbert P. Ransom's marriage license (1905) to a Hester J. Wolfe, records his parents being the above. A Hester J. Ransom applied for a Pearl Ransom's military pension, as a widow, April 5, 1909, prior to this Pearl Ransom's death (IF these records and/or the date on the tombstone is/are correct). This Hester then married Claude Pierson (1911) who, perhaps coincidentally, is also buried in this cemetery.
