Henry Delany was 1 of 2 African American Men who were Bishops in the Episcopal Church in N.C and the USA, as of 1928. He died at St. Augustine College where he had been the vice president. The funeral was held at St. Augustine Chapel @ 3:00pm.

He was born into slavery in St. Mary's Georgia to Thomas S. Delany and Sarah Delany on 02/05/1858, and recieved his religious training in Fernandins, Florida and graduated in 1885. He became Archdeacon in 1908, and Shaw University awarded him Doctor of Divininty in 1911. He married Nannie James Logan in 1886 and they had 10 Children.
