She was the youngest of the seven children. Her other six siblings were: George A. Townsend (1922-2006), Mary R. Townsend Ahnert Cundiff (1928-2013), Esther Elizabeth Townsend Russell (1937-), Jane Ann Townsend (1941-1945), Kay Frances Townsend (1944-2010), Susie Townsend Hughes (1947-).
Maxine was buried at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru, Miami County, Indiana. Funeral services were handled by Drake Funeral Home of Peru, Indiana.
