She was the wife of the late Clyde Bertrand.
Joan was born on November 19, 1932 in Newport, RI the daughter of Alexander and M. Elizabeth (Taylor) Cameron.
Joan grew up in Newport and graduated from Rogers High School. She married Clyde Bertrand in 1952 and began a career as a young woman as a telephone operator for the phone company. Her career continued later at Raytheon in Portsmouth.
Joan was the Past Matron of the former Aquidneck Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, a current member of the Adah Chapter OES of RI and dual member of Pomperaug Chapter OES in Woodbury, CT.
Joan also loved the outdoors, taking care of gardens and birdwatching. She rescued Norwegian Elkhound dogs and also enjoyed crocheting items for the babies in her family. She also enjoyed many pig theme collectibles.
Joan was preceded in death by her sisters Marjorie Titus and Hope C. Adams.
Her calling hours will be held on Friday, August 2 from 5:00-7:00pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Rd, Portsmouth, RI.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 3 at 11:00am in Emmanuel Church, Dearborn Street, Newport.
