HAVEN - Paul C. Kohler, 92, died Jan. 29, 2014, at Haven House, Haven. He was born June 6, 1921, in Cheney, Kan., to John and Elizabeth Jahn Kohler.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cheney. Paul graduated from Cheney High School in 1939, was inducted into the U.S. Army in July of 1942. Four years of his service was spent in the Southern Pacific, and he received an honorable discharged in 1946. After returning he was a farmer and a carpenter and was employed by the United School District #312 for 10 years before retiring in 1983.

On Nov. 26, 1970, Paul married Bessie Geffert in Fort Worth, Texas. Survivors include: daughter, Karen Bea Chambers of Cleburne, Texas; granddaughter, Kandy Yates and her husband Robert of Cleburne, Texas; grandson, Price Chambers and wife Nancy of Bracketville, Texas; great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Yates of Cleburne, Texas; great-grandsons, Braden and Blaine Chamber of Bracketville, Texas; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kohler of Cheney, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews, who have been an important part of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Geffert Koehler; son, Karol Lee Geffert; his parents, John and Elizabeth Kohler; brothers, Ernest and Martin Kohler; and sister, Alvena Lessenden. Paul was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Haven.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Ott Funeral Home, Haven. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Haven, with Pastor Ronald Rather officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Haven House or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in care of Ott Funeral Home, 102 N. Wichita, Haven, KS 67543.
