Songwriter, Composer. Born Anna Ruby Gordy, she was co-founder of the record label Anna Records (1958), which became a subsidiary for Motown Records. The label was the distributor of Tamla's first national hit record, "Money (That's What I Want)". Artists such as David Ruffin, Marvin Gaye and Joe Tex recorded for the label. She was the ex-wife of Motown artist Marvin Gaye. She co-wrote two recordings on Marvin Gaye's What's Going On album, and co-wrote hits with Gaye for the Motown group The Originals, including the hit ballad "Baby, I'm for Real". The marriage between Anna and Marvin was the focal point of Gaye's 1978 album Here, My Dear. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1977. She was the second oldest sister of Motown founder Berry Gordy, Jr. and her last public appearance was with Berry in 2008.
