Sister Angelita Myerscough, ASC, 92, of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Ruma Center, Ruma, Ill., born May 27, 1921, in Ruma, Ill., died at 8:46 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the community's center in Ruma, Ill.

Sister Angelita made her first vows as an Adorer of the Blood of Christ on July 1, 1937 and perpetual profession on July 1, 1942. She ministered in education and community service. She taught grade school at St. Elizabeth's in East St. Louis, Ill. (1938-39), Olney, Ill. (1939-40), Chester, Ill. (1940-41), and Waterloo, Ill. (1941-43). Her high school teaching was at St. Teresa Academy in East St. Louis, Ill. (1944-45; 1946-53) and Precious Blood Institute in Ruma, Ill. (1953-54). She taught at the university level at St. Louis University (1962-65) and was executive secretary of the St. Louis Theological Consortium from 1972-75. After studies in Rome from 1954-56, she returned home on the ill-fated liner Andrea Doria.

Her community service was a provincial of the former Ruma province from 1965-72 and on the general administration in Rome from 1975-87. She also worked as vice president for mission services for the ASC Health System from 1988-95. She translated the letters of St. Maria De Mattias, the congregation's founder and retired in Ruma in 2007.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lee, nee Brown, Myerscough; a sister, Dorothy Skaggs; and brother-in-law, Bill Laurent.

Surviving are her sister, Florence Laurent; two nephews, George Skaggs and James Laurent; and a niece, Laura Mae (Richard) Deterding.

Visitation: Friends may call from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the Ruma Center Chapel, Ruma, Ill. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.

Funeral: Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at Ruma Center Chapel, Ruma, Ill., with Father Clyde Grogan presiding and regional leader Sister Barbara Hudock, ASC, offering reflections. Interment will be at Convent Cemetery, Ruma, Ill.
