Bertha Mae Malone, 85, of Opekiska Community, Fairmont, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born in Westmoreland County, Pa., on June 6, 1928, a daughter of the late Fred Rundle Sr. and Anna (Woodward) Rundle.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Wesley "June" Malone, in September 2001.

Bertha was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her earlier years she worked at Westinghouse Lamp Plant. She was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church, the White Day Homemakers and the Smithtown Seniors Group. She loved getting her hair done by her close friend, Becky Saurborn.

She is survived by her son, Wesley F. "Chip" Malone and his wife Beverly of Morgantown; one granddaughter, Heather Garrison and her husband Michael of Morgantown; and two greatgrandchildren, Julia Garrison and Gabriella Garrison.

Also surviving is a brother, Patrick Rundle and his wife Sandy of Morgantown; one sister, Roberta Coates of Richmond, Va.; three sistersin- law, Lula "Molly" Mae Shaffer, Betty Malone and Loretta Rundle; as well as several close nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Rundle Jr.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. Sunday and from 9-11 a.m. Monday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Tom Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
