Caroline I. Sitler, 83, Rouse Manor, Youngsville, died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Warren General Hospital.
She was born July 29, 1920, in Warren, to the late Harold and Anna Ristau Farrell. She was the founder and oldest living member of the Youngsville VFD Women's Auxiliary. She lived at Shipman's Eddy for 23 years and was a former resident of Youngsville. She had worked at A & P Grocery in the produce department and later at Quality Markets, Youngsville. She was a member of First Salem United Methodist Church and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son, Gary Sitler, Irvine, Calif.; a daughter, Beverly Buvoltz, Blacksburg, S.C.; a brother, Franklin Farrell, Fort Smith, Ark.; three sisters, Kathy Johnson, Venice, Fla., Irene Reese, Winter Springs, Fla., and Yvonne Henderson, Rural Retreat, Va.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leland G. Sitler, whom she married at First Salem United Methodist Church on Feb. 18, 1940, and who died March 5, 2000.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Neil Siefert, pastor of Emanuel United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Warren County or the Warren Area Agency on Aging.
