Jesse was living in Dallas with his father when he was drafted into the US Army.
When he arrived in Vietnam 15 July 1970, Jesse was assigned to B Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry, 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division, USARV. Jesse was a passenger on a military truck traveling on Route #516 and 6 kilometers west of Ngai when the truck hit a hostile land mine. Jesse was med-evac and later died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the body from the mine explosion.
Survived by his father, Lafeyette D Kestler of 1110 Peavy St, Dallas, Texas and his mother; Betty L Loebach of Ontario, California and his son; Robbie C Kestler of Bridgeton, North Carolina.
