CONOVER - Billy Ray Whisnant Sr., 62, of Highview Court, Claremont, died Jan. 2, 2000, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 6, 1938, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late B. Ray and Katherine Shouts Whisnant. A member of Fallstown Baptist Church in Troutman, he worked as a machinist for Southern Railway and had served in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Zella Keeter Whisnant; a son, Billy Whisnant Jr. of Claremont; and a sister, Mary Kanipe of Polkton. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Drum Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. David Talbert at 2 p.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Charlotte. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
