ISHPEMING -- Alan J. Maki, age 45, of 1700 Walnut St., Ishpeming, died Saturday, November 10, 2001 at the U.P. Home Health & Hospice's inpatient unit at Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming following a 3 month battle with cancer.

Alan was born August 16, 1956 in Ishpeming to William J. and Donna (Annala) Maki. He was a life long area resident. Alan worked at the Miracle Bowling Center and Country Lanes. He was a member of the Hope Free Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ishpeming.

Alan is survived by his parents William "Bill" and Donna Maki of Ishpeming; 2 brothers, Robert Maki and Vance (Ruth) Maki both of Ishpeming; a niece, Melissa Maki; a nephew, Marc Maki; aunts and uncles, Helen (Reuben) Koski of Ishpeming and Toivo (Connie) Maki of Florida; 2 cousins, Claudia and Hope. Alan was preceded in death by a brother Donald Maki, maternal grandparents, Donald and Letty Annala and his paternal grandparents, Jack and Lempi Maki.

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, November 12, 2001 at the Hope Free Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Michael Burke officiating. Burial will be in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hope Free Lutheran Church on Monday from 11:00am until the time of service.

Memorial considerations may be directed to U.P. Home Health & Hospice or the Hope Free Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home of Ishpeming.
